NOTORIOUS private Hollywood star Sam Worthington took his family on a day out to Disney World today, to celebrate the completion of a ride inspired by his hit film.

The actor was joined at the Florida theme park by his model wife Lara and their sons Rocket Zot and Racer.

Sam and the clan were there to get a first-hand look at the new Pandora: World of Avatar attraction.

It features several rides and experiences that pay tribute to the 2009 billion-dollar blockbuster Avatar, in which Sam played the lead character Jake Sully.

Among the rides is Flight of Passage attraction, an impressive-looking 3D experience that allows fans to fly on the back of a mountain banshee during an exhilarating tour of the vast alien world.

Ahead of its official opening at the weekend, a special dedication event took place today and drew fellow castmates Sigourney Weaver, Zoey Saldana, Stephen Lang and Laz Alonzo, as well as Kiwi-born director James Cameron.

Members of the public were shocked to see the Worthingtons wandering through Disney World nonchalantly.

In a video provided to News Corp, one man can be heard saying hello and introducing himself as an Australian.

“G’day mate!” he cheerily yells, to which Sam nods.

While Lara once lived her life very publicly, starring in her own fly-on-the-wall reality show and a regular target of paparazzi, she has opted for a more low-key lifestyle since hooking up with Sam.

They now make sparing public appearances and are protective of their children’s time in the public glare.
